Reduce volume of personal feed RSS#83

?

I use Scour to discover new feeds to follow directly. I do this by including my Scour personal feed in my regular RSS reader. However, I’ve had to hide Scour entries by default because they quickly take over the feeds I do follow. (This was the problem I wanted Scour to solve, in fact: reduce the volume of aggregators to just the top 1–4 entries for each day.)

Hmm. That’s an interesting problem (and thank you for reporting it!).

How many articles would you like to see from Scour per day?

Right now, it’s giving you the top posts from the past day whenever your feed reader polls it. However, that list will update any time there’s a new article that fits within the top list.

Two things you could try would be subscribing to your feed with the ?t=1w query parameter appended or changing how often the feed reader checks the feed for new content.

FWIW I initially had the same problem as this poster and quickly solved it by fiddling around with the feed parameters recommended above. I settled on https://scour.ing/@(user)/rss.xml?t=1w&all_feeds=true

This results in around 40 posts per week or ~5-6 per day which is perfect for me.

Thanks! That sounds good. I will try that for a few days and report back.

I’m happy with this solution. The issue can be closed as far as I’m concerned.
