Explain how likes / dislikes are used#95

“If I knew what it did, I might use that more” - @tiferrei

In the meantime while I figure out where this explanation should go, here’s how they’re currently used:

  • Input for interest recommendations (it’s a stronger signal of what you like than clicking on an article)
  • You can find them on your Likes page so it can serve as a way to bookmark things
  • They contribute to the ranking of posts for the Browse Popular Posts page

Unlike most content aggregators likes are NOT used to:

  • Make content more likely to show up for other people
  • Automatically include similar content in your feed (For better and for worse, it’s only based on topics you explicitly add. I might change this in the future, if people find that needing to explicitly accept topics is too clunky.)

I added an FAQ to explain how reactions are used. Let me know if you think there are other places it would be useful to have this explanation!
